GSCS still going strong and helping people

The Good Samaritan Christian Service (GSCS). Is based on the answer that Jesus gave to this question “Who is my neighbor?”
For many years churches, civic and fraternal groups and individuals helped their neighbors who were in need. Much was worked through the “Helping Hand Fund.”
Although the GSCS did not open until July 6, 1983 they started in a small building just off Rock Island on 4th Street, then moved to a home at 622 Peters, a building on 7th Street and then to the Burkhalter Motel on West 7th, where they had two rooms.
