Dalhart’s Bowling Alley, a landmark since 1960
Leagues and open bowling gives plenty of opportunity to roll the rock
By ZELDA BETH LANG
In March 1960 Ed and Francis Ondracek, father and son, announced they would erect a new 80x144 foot building for a bowling alley. It remains today in Dalhart and is enjoyed by many during open bowling, leagues or for parties.
Construction was to begin from the time they announced, March 15, in 10 days with completion scheduled in three months. The building that still stands on U. S. Highway 54 West was constructed of a new type of steel developed by Strand Steel Co. The Ondracek’s did the construction themselves.
