Local sunflower crop used in healthy cooking oil

When you think of the agriculture industry in Dalhart you think cattle, hogs, corn and wheat, but there are many niche areas of farming and ranching that are seeing some success. Farmers are diversifying to stay ahead of the economic trends.
On Ronald Meyer’s farm east of Dalhart, he grows about 500 acres of sunflowers that are used in the production of High Oleic naturally pressed CM Sunflower Oil. This is done about 120 miles across the Colorado border in Lamar at Colorado Mills.
