City mulls oil lease at lake
Committee looks to do the due diligence

The City of Dalhart has been approached by a company called Tascosa Land to lease city land and mineral rights next to Rita Blanca Lake and Park.
According to City Administrator James Stroud, the company is exploring the idea of leasing the land owned by the city along with its mineral rights to explore the possibility of drilling for oil. The land the company wants to lease is near the existing park on both sides of the lake.
