City plagued by utility rate negotiations

One case with Atmos Energy headed to court
Dalhart City Administrator James Stroud is busy with three different utility rate cases in which he and officials at the City of Amarillo are fighting two utility companies in hopes to keep user rates under control.
Both Atmos and Xcel Energy companies have requested the ability to raise rates in the Panhandle and Dalhart and Amarillo officials are negotiating with the energy companies for user and franchise fees to be the lowest possible. The first case is a little different and much further along than the latest two cases being looked at by the parties.
