Gov. shutdown affects school food programs
The government shutdown will have an impact on Dalhart ISD as much of its funding comes from the federal government but how much of an impact is still unclear according to Superintendent John Massey.
“Much of our title money and federal money were predetermined prior to the shutdown,” Massey said. “It could impact us more next year or the following year. I read where it cost the government more to shut the government down per day than to run the government.” That could be because prior to the shutdown, congress passed a bill that would pay most government employees during the shutdown.
