Services affected by government shutdown
It’s business as usual in Dalhart in the wake of the government shutdown Monday (Oct. 1) as congress couldn’t pass a balanced budget on time and politicians wrestle over funding or defunding the Affordable Healthcare Act known as Obamacare.
One government office shut down until funding comes back is the local United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) office on 7th street it also houses the local Farm Service Agency. If you go to the USDA Website, it’s even down with a disclaimer, “Due to the lapse in federal government funding, this website is not available. After funding has been restored, please allow some time for this website to become available again.” A similar sign is posted on the outside windows of the building that houses the local offices and the doors are also locked.
