Cops equipped with body cameras
By JOE WARREN
Everybody has heard the old saying, throwing good money after bad is never a smart thing to do, so Dalhart Chief of Police Gary Sinclair is going to try and mix that old adage up by taking some bad money and use it for the good of the department.
Sinclair believes the use of seized drug money will help his officers become better equipped and be able to do their jobs better on several levels. He announced at the Dalhart City Council meeting Tuesday (Sept. 24) that he’s working with TAZER International out of Arizona, to purchase personalized audio and video cameras for each of his officers. The money the Chief said is coming from seized drug money confiscated by his department during drug busts in 1012. These apparatuses will be mounted to the officer’s uniform on their chest and provide each cop with the ability to video and record while they are away from their vehicle.
