DISD adopts budget & tax rate Tuesday night

The Dalhart Independent School Board (DISD) adopted their budget and tax rate in a meeting Tuesday night. Shelley Tubbs who is a financial administrator is part time with DISD. She works five days a month and will for the next 12 months. She is on loan from another school district.
She went over budget figures with the Board and said it was actually three budgets. Budget one was the Local 199, the big one she said; number two debt service and number three, Cafeteria Budget. After her presentation a public hearing was held on the budget and proposed tax rate. There are 294 staff personnel but the budget represents 239 staff members, Ms. Tubbs said.
The tax rate for Maintenance and Operation is up four cents to $1.04 and the Interest and Sinking Tax is down to .1575 for a total of $1.1975. Last year’s rate was M and O .9987 and I and S .1747 for a total of $1.1734. The total budget is $13,818,151.
