Posted by: tdt -

Dyllon Orthman, an 11 year old Dalhart boy, spent his summer working. The money he earned was not for a new bike or to take on vacation. Dyllon raised $16,000 by mowing lawns, and the money was earmarked for the tornado victims in Moore, Ok.
Dyllon got the idea from a school fundraiser which was raising money for the Oklahoma tornado victims as well, but Dyllon wanted to do more. Kristi Orthman, Dyllon’s mother, told him that he could make the $20 if he mowed lawns.  Every single penny was donated to a family of six adopted by the Orthman’s. “The family had boys about Dyllon’s age and that’s why he selected them,” Kristi explained.  “I was done August 2,” Kristi added, “But a man from Mississippi gave Dyllon a riding mower and he insisted on continuing his project with the time remaining in his summer break.
