City Council discusses budget Tuesday night

Posted by: tdt -

Dalhart City Council met Tuesday night and had a lengthy discussion on several items on the requests for capital outlay items.
Figures were given on the salaries and it was asked that the Salary Committee of Philip Hass, Danny Smallwood and Zelda Lang meet again this week to go over the completed figures.
The tax rate was discussed and a record vote was taken from each Council member present. Last year’s tax rate was .33000 and the new proposed rate is .323900. A small reduction, but residents will still see an increase in their taxes as valuations of homes in both Dallam and Hartley Counties went up quite a bit for some residents.
A public hearing on the budget and tax rate will be held at the next meeting, Aug,, 27 at 6 p.m.
