The 2013 XIT Rodeo was a record-breaking event with more than 334 total entries in their professional events. The total payoff of the event was nearly $64,000.
With the new stock company signing with the rodeo a large number of bareback riders came to the city of Dalhart to try and get on the weekend purse.
The new company attracted 11 different former world champions to the events as well as plenty more who were in competition for the national championship over the last few years.
The rodeo got started with steer-roping on Wednesday night where Jarrett Blessing took home the title with a time of 9.6 seconds. He took home $1,248.93 for the win in the first round. Chance Kelton took home the win in the second round with a time of 10.0 seconds and Cody Lee won the aggregate scoring with a combined time of 21.2 seconds.
On Thursday night, the rodeo continued with the steer wrestling, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and bull riding.
