The 2013 Little Mr. and Miss XIT Pageant crowned the Annual XIT Rodeo and Reunion “little” royalty on Saturday, July 20, at the First Christian Church in Dalhart, TX. Chris Bell, President of XIT Rodeo and Reunion Director, opened the pageant with a big Texas welcome. Bay Jo Wing, son of Rose and Mike Wing, was crowned Little Mr. XIT, and Kadelynn Graham, daughter of Rebecca and Chase Graham, was crowned Little Miss XIT.
The pageant is open to three and four-year-olds living in Dallam and Hartley County. All participants were judged on appearance, western wear, personality and demeanor. The expert panel included Toni Coke, Laura Taylor and Kevin Caddell.
Dressed in their fanciest ‘cowgirl and cowboy’ attire, the contestants were escorted by the 2012 reigning royalty, Little Mr. XIT, Hagan Johnson, and Little Miss XIT, Jordan Cox. Sarah Swain, wife of XIT Director Jason Swain, interviewed each contestant allowing the audience and judges to get to know each ‘cowgirl and cowboy’ a little better.
Bay Jo Wing entertained the crowd with a cowboy tune on his drums. Swain asked Wing for is finale and Bay Jo replied, “What’s a finale?” the crowd roared with laughter.
Kadelynn kept her distance on Swain but did tell her that her favorite food was broccoli soup. Swain asked the young cowgirl decked out in peach colored attire from the top of her hat to the souls of her boots if she’d like to sing a song? Kadelynn replied, “When I come next time.”
