He said this Program would allow the girls to stay in school full time. Many of the girls have to stay home, or can’t find a baby sitter, and he said sometimes they are only there two hours and sometimes miss a whole day or several days. Douglas said in visiting with the mothers of the girls with babies that it is a generational; thing mothers of the girls had babies early in life. There are now three girls in the XIT School who have babies and four at High School who will have babies this summer. He said you need an education and a high school diploma. The Early Head Start Program would be from newborns to three years of age and once qualified in this program can go on into the Head Start Program.
