Jotting Judi - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
July is my favorite month. I am a sucker for the red-white and blue! I love July cook outs with apple pie, hotdogs and homemade ice cream. I cry at parades when the American flag passes by. I thrill to see the honor guards, marching bands and floats carrying the veterans who fought bravely for the freedoms we enjoy. This week we celebrate America’s 237th B’Day! It is one date I never have to look up. It was the year of her 200th birthday, 1976, when a child joined our family, making it easy for me to remember. (I’m not supposed to mention his name in the paper but many of you know him!)
July is also special to me because it is my birthday month. Sometimes I would like to “forget” the year but it was an infamous year and therefore remembered. I was only five months old when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. I am fortunate to have a living 88 year old uncle who was on a battleship stationed at Pearl Harbor. All my life he has helped me remember the events of that fateful day.
