Hartley County resident, Jake Hembree, was chosen to participate in the Texas Brigades program this summer.  He was selected based on his academic records, interest in wildlife and natural resources and leadership activities.
The Texas Brigades’ mission is to educate and empower youths with leadership skills and knowledge in wildlife, fisheries and land stewardship to become conservation ambassadors for a sustained natural resource legacy.  This is the 21st year of the Brigades.
There are seven Brigade camps being held during the summer session which include: two Buckskin Brigades, two Bobwhite Brigades, Bass Brigade, Waterfowl Brigade and Ranch Brigade. Hembree attended Rolling Plains Bobwhite Brigade at Centennial Lodge in Talpa TX. Hembree was selected and attended the South Texas Buckskin Brigade two years ago in Albany, TX.
