Accident totals two

Department of Public Safety Troopers worked an accident on Tuesday, June 11 at approximately 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of U. S. Highway 385/87 and 281. Hartley County Sheriff’s Office, Dalhart Emergency Medical Services and Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department assisted with the accident and traffic control as emergency personnel worked to free a passenger trapped inside one of the disabled vehicles.
Initial reports indicated that the accident may have occurred when the yellow Ford Mustang traveling west on highway 281 failed to yield the right-of-way and crossed U. S. Highway 385/87.  The silver Volkswagen was traveling north on U. S Highway 385/87 and the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles sustained substantial front end damage and were considered totaled.
