Rain falls again; hot days ahead

A wet weather pattern the past week finally brought rain to the city of Dalhart Friday and Saturday evening. The official rain total from the National Weather Service is 0.06” for both days. The NWS measures rain at the Dalhart airport southwest of town.
Friday’s storm blew in close to sunset, with gusty winds. The airport recorded 0.05”. One resident inside the city reported 0.15” to the NWS. Saturday’s storms brought brief heavy rain and small hail inside the city limits, but only measured 0.01” at the airport. One storm rolled in late afternoon. A second popped up and sped away after dark.
Farmland just north and east of the city recorded between 0.10” and 0.25” inches for both days, according to Texaspivot.com.
