Saturday, May 18 was perfect weather for a trail ride and the XIT Rangers took full advantage of the day. Bill Coots, Connie Oberthart, Brian Oberhart, Hubert Vinnie, Sam Garrett, Allison Swecker and Thomas Erickson rode to raise money for St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Following the ride the XIT Rangers and a multitude of guests filled the XIT Rangers hall to enjoy a meal by the award winning Chuck Wagon crew and danced to the country and western tunes of the Lone Star Band, “I have been playing for this fundraising event for 35 years,” stated band member Eloy Gonzalez. Ms. Darlene Walker, a resident from Clayton, drove to Dalhart from Clayton with a large group of friends to enjoy the festivities.
The Cowboy Church donated $2000 to the Rangers for a heating and cooling unit for the building, which was very much appreciated by the diners and dancers at the Saturday evening celebration and fund raiser.
