Local Law enforcement control high speed chase

Posted by: tdt -

On a quiet Sunday afternoon a Clayton police officer attempted to stop a motorcycle traveling 120 mph. The driver ignored the officer’s request, which led to a chase that crossed the Texas state line in Texline. Dallam County Sheriff’s Deputy Max Morris became involved in the pursuit followed by Dallam County Chief Deputy Martin engaging in the high speed chase at FM 1879 and US Highway 87. Martin stated that his speed was 140 plus mph and the driver of the motorcycle was pulling away from him. Dallam County deputies were unsure of the location DPS Trooper Wyatt engaged the motorcycle. Hartley County Deputy Chanz Fowler was set to intercept the motorcycle around FM 1727 & Ponderosa Lane.
The motorcycle turned onto Ponderosa Lane, crossed US Highway 385, went thru P&P scrap yard and ended up on the Hilmar railroad spur. Both occupants jumped off the motorcycle and started to run. Wyatt arrived at that time and commanded them to stop.  The male driver took off running southeast under the trains on the Union Pacific railroad tracks and across US Highway 54. The female passenger put her hands up and followed Trooper Wyatt’s command to get on the ground and stay there.
