Posted by: tdt -

The Dalhart High School (DHS) Golden Wolves Band traveled to Panhandle on Thursday, April 11, to participated in the UIL Concert/Sight reading contest. The Band performed three concert pieces for three judges. The first selection was Bavarian Trails March by Compello, their second selection was In the Shining of the Stars by Robert Sheldon and their final piece was the Overture for Wind by Charles Carter.
Following the Golden Wolves stage performance, the band was led to the sight reading room. The band members are required to read a piece of music they have not previously seen. Jim Paslay, the Golden Wolves band director, is given a mere eight minutes to explain the piece to the students; however, they are not permitted to play the piece. The band members perform the piece under the direction of their instructor for the judges.
