CASA Playhouse makes summer debut
After many months of hard work and a family effort, the CASA Playhouse is ready for its summer tour. Our Dalhart friends may have watched as the playhouse took shape on the lot of the H & R Construction workshop at 220 Denver Avenue. The completed CASA Playhouse was transported from the lot on June 12th just in time for its first public appearance in the Dogie Days Parade in Dumas the next day.
Ronnie Hanbury of H & R Construction and his crew took on the project this year of creating an adorable Victorian style playhouse for CASA 69, Inc. Ronnie’s brother, Mark Hanbury, their parents, Doyle and Nancy Hanbury, and the H & R crew spent many hours preparing the perfect playhouse for CASA’s summer fundraising project. Mark Hanbury is a present member of the CASA 69 Board of Directors and Doyle and Nancy Hanbury were dedicated volunteers for many years and continue to be great supporters of the CASA program. They were more than eager to volunteer their time and effort on the playhouse to support CASA through this family project.
Bartlett Lumber and Hardware of Dalhart once again donated supplies for the construction of the CASA Playhouse. Randy Sherrill, manager at Bartlett’s, when asked about donating supplies said, “We are more than happy to help CASA and their service to the abused and neglected children in our area.”
This year’s CASA Playhouse is a sweet rendition of home in the Victorian style, complete with a porch for swinging and a touch of pretty scrollwork. This Casa is ready to find a permanent home. Tickets are now available at United Supermarket, K-Bobs, Bartlett’s, and the Chamber of Commerce in Dumas and will be on sale at McDade Park during Dumas’ July 4th celebration.
The playhouse will make its second stop in Stratford in time for the Stratford Jamboree and Reunion on July 25th with a
showing in the parade and at the Barbeque in Pendelton Park. Tickets will also be on sale in Stratford at the Barbeque and later at Brooks Video, A & I Parts, and First State Bank.
The XIT Rodeo and Reunion in Dalhart (August 6th-8th) will be the next stop for the CASA Playhouse, making appearances at the Bank of America Clown Contest, the 4-H Arts and Crafts Bazaar at People’s Church, the XIT Parade, and Bartlett’s parking lot. Tickets in Dalhart will be available at Bartlett Lumber and Hardware, H & R Construction, Bank of America, First State Bank, and Wells Fargo Bank.
Sunray Funday will be an opportunity for Sunray residents to get a closer view of the adorable playhouse as CASA shows off their playhouse in the parade and sets up for ticket sales at the Sunray Community Park on August 15th. Tickets may also be purchased in Sunray at the Sunray Co-Op and Happy State Bank.
The final stop for the CASA Playhouse will be at the Dalhart Downtown Block Party on September 19th. At that time a drawing will be held and the lucky winner will get to take the playhouse home with them. Winners need not be present to win. Playhouse tickets may be purchased for a donation to CASA of $5.00 for one ticket or $20.00 for 5 tickets. Funds from ticket sales benefit the abused and neglected children in our area. CASA 69 is a United Way Agency.
