If not you, who?

If not you, who? This is a question on everyone’s mind with regards to all types of abuse. There is no time like the present to end all forms of abuse, especially child abuse. Every child has the right to grow up in a happy, safe and loving environment free of abuse and neglect. Last year, 211 Texas children died from abuse and neglect.  That’s 211 too many and it means a child’s life ends every 41 hours.
April is child abuse awareness month and every member of the community should take time out to make sure all of these children are on our minds and in our hearts and prayers.  There were over 64,000 confirmed child abuse and neglect victims in 2012. CASA 69, our local office, advocated for 52 children last year in Dallam, Hartley, Moore and Sherman counties.
Everyone has the opportunity to change the life of a child by getting involved, standing up and taking a stand against these crimes against our children, our future and the future of this community, the State of Texas, the United States of America and the entire world. Children in foster care often slip through the cracks and this is another situation that requires immediate attention.
