Spring season brings flowers, pollen and allergies
By TAMMI KATE LEDFORD
Allergy season is now underway, according to sales of over the counter allergy relief medication. As the climate change continues, it means that the season of pollen may be lasting longer and longer across different regions of the country. In March so far, many regions of the United States seem to have been spared the respiratory onslaught suffered last year; perhaps because of generally cooler temperatures delaying certain tree species’ pollen release. Don’t breathe easy yet, with warmer weather beginning, pollination and a cold snap often associated with an earlier Easter will kill or delay the process allowing trees, shrubs and flowers to bloom again and start the process all over and extend the symptoms of allergies. Many reports are stating, at least in this neck of the woods, pollen season is expected to peak in May. In case you’re wondering how badly your area’s allergy sufferers might have it, just multiply last year’s allergy season by three.
