Oh, what a night to remember

Sixteen musicians and two vocalists preformed a show in the La Rita Theater that filled Denrock with the sound of the old big bands. On Wednesday, February 13, the famous Glenn Miller Orchestra (GMO) played familiar tunes that had the rented dance floor in full swing. “It was happy music,” stated Dr. Abdullah.
“I saw them back in the 60’s in Macon, Georgia,” commented David Stear, a veteran traveled from Amarillo with his daughter to hear the renowned orchestra again. Stear was accompanied by his youngest daughter of five, Maragret. “We drove up here to see them (GMO). I just wonder how they came to perform in Dalhart,” Stear added. The 87 year old retired Petroleum Production engineer was in euphoria as he clapped and sang along with the well-known hits from 1939 to 1942.
