Stack’em high folks, it’s that time!

It’s that time again; all you can eat mile high pancakes, savory sausage and crispy bacon, hot coffee, sweet juice and ice cold milk! The St. James Episcopal Church 35th annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held tonight in the Parish Hall at 801 Denver Avenue from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tickets are available from church members and may also be purchased at the door.  The tickets are $5.00 and 4 & under eat free.  
The new Parish Hall was completed in 1977, but the ladies of the church weren’t prepared for what was to become the fellowship event of February in Dalhart.  With the beautiful new kitchen the women began to think about a money making project. The larger Parish Hall seemed to need the sound of laughter and children and good fellowship.  The ladies decided on a pancake supper, it seemed easy enough until the breakers continuously blew.  The February 27, 1978 event proved profitable but it was a little stressful. However, the “disaster” as named by the church women were able to serve every single diner and therefore it led to the 2nd Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.
