New Emergency Department on the ballot

The Dallam Hartley County Hospital District held a meeting of the Board of Trustees on Friday, January 11, at noon. The brief meeting was to discuss and vote on a single issue concerning the proposed construction of a new state of the art Emergency Facility for the Coon Memorial Hospital. The allocation of the 1.7 cents from tax revenue is to be applied to the loan repayment for the Hospital District.
The current tax rate is set at 18.5 cents and current maintenance and operations is 18.5 cents. If the voters that are eligibly to vote favor the bond election, the tax rate will remain at 18.5 cents and the maintenance and operations cost would be reduced to 16.8 cents. The remaining 1.7 cents would be placed into a principal and interest account to service the loan. “If residents of Hartley County are in the Moore County hospital district, they will not be eligibly to vote,” explained Leroy Schaffner, Coon Memorial Hospital Administrator. The bond payment will be $190,000 per year.
