In a hearing in Moore County on Thursday, January 3, with the honorable Ron Enns presiding Lenore Pruitt plead guilty to aggravated assault. Pruitt was released around 5:00 p.m. from the Dallam Hartley County jail following the hearing. Her release is for a period of two weeks but she will be required to wear a GPS monitoring device.
Pruitt maintained her innocence from the time she was arrested. The incident was investigated by Dalhart Police Department personnel. Information received by the Texan from anonymous sources portrayed the story to appear that Pruitt had been abused by her domestic partner, Cody Freeman. In addition, the anonymous sources states that Pruitt requested advice from a friend to check and see if Freeman was actually dead on at least one occasion prior to June 22, 2012, after she struck Freeman in the head with a hand tool. Also, Pruitt maintained that the blow to the head didn’t ultimately kill Freeman, but the fall sustained after the blow was actually the cause of his demise.  The anonymous sources also said that Freeman refused to seek medical attention for his injuries.
