DISD receives audit report
A regular meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Dalhart Independent School District (DISD) was held Tuesday, December 17 at 5:30 p.m. During the meeting routine business was discussed and action was taken on the items listed on the agenda.
Item number five on the agenda was Consider Standard Audit Engagement letter for Dalhart ISD for the annual audit for year ended August 31, 2013, with Keeney, Hembree and Company, L.L.P. Coy Barton presented the letter with a detailed report, “You have a good school district, financially sound. A lot of debt but a good district,” he commented. The audit report was clear of fraud and misuse of funds according to Barton. However, he did make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees, “We need to get things paid for before you do anything else.”
Enrollment is down from this time last year by 27 students, the current numbers of enrollment per school are; Dalhart Elementary 595, Dalhart Intermediate 249, Dalhart Junior High School 402, Dalhart High School 469 and the XIT alternative school has 30 in their program.
