Local church exceeds Christmas goal

Operation Christmas Child an organization that delivers thousands of shoe boxes filled with small toys, school supplies, hygiene items and candy. The boxes are packed and shipped overseas to the children around the world that are able to use the items and often don’t have access to the small things we take for granted. The northwest area of the Texas panhandle, the Oklahoma panhandle and northeast New Mexico participated in this years drive to collect 1000 shoe boxes. The relay center at People’s Church collected a grand total of 1,140. In addition an Amarillo retail store donated 180 pairs of Toms children’s shoes to be included in the gift filled shoe boxes.
