Jotting Judi - Thanks—Giving

I love every minute of Thanksgiving! These are a few of my favorite things; all the preparations, the smell of the turkey in the oven and the enormous variety of dishes on the serving table, watching the traditions grow as a new family member adds a delicacy from their mom or grandma, hearing the laughter of the children,  the groans from everyone being stuffed as tight as the turkey, the roars from the family room as everyone watches football, the rustle of the newspaper ads as the girls plan their Friday shopping trip, and the sound of someone raiding the refrigerator late at night to get a slab of turkey to eat on one of my homemade hamburger buns before bed. (It happens every year!) Then, I love to wake up the next morning to the smell of freshly brewed coffee and know one of my son-in-laws is already sampling the cinnamon rolls.
But most of all, I love that quiet, memory building time when we, as a family, pause to give thanks to God for the blessings of the past year. We each share something we are the most thankful for.  I’m always thankful when it is hard to pick out just one! While I’m waiting for my turn, my mind often recalls the story of Thanksgiving and it came to be—
