The envelope please, Best of the Best for 2012

Posted by: tdt -

The Texan staff spent endless hours, sorting and counting and calculating to find “The Best of the Best for 2012.”
The Community Choice Award ballots hit an all time high this year beating last year’s entries by several hundred votes. The more the merrier and these additional ballots made calculating the results even more exciting. Just as Whitney Lehman the official ballot counter and the most secretive person on the Texan staff thought they had a winner in a category nailed down, more and more ballots poured in the door.
Winners were determined by the community and the original ballots each voter completed and returned. Lehman prepared a spread sheet in excel and each ballot was counted and verified for accuracy. This year’s votes were close in many of the categories, but no person, place or thing ran away with the title. It took every single vote to determine this year’s winners. The participants that voted in the Community Choice Awards were given the opportunity to register to win a one year subscription from the Dalhart Texan. The winner is Renae Lenz of Dalhart.
Susan Clay took photos of the Community  Choice winners for weeks. The ads were designed by T.K. Ledford and proofed by the winners. The ads were then laid out on the tab size pages, and Jonathan Scherer added the final touches and made sure everything was perfect before sending the beautiful tab section to our printers in Shamrock.  The Texan staff has burned the midnight oil and prepared an insert, which can be found in today’s paper. The 2012 Community Choice award winners have taken this opportunity to thank everyone in the community for their support.
The Dalhart Texan is proud to announce the 2012 Community Choice Award winners.
