The City of Dalhart received a $9000 grant to purchase new recycling dumpsters to be place strategically in the area. “Every piece of paper in the office (City Hall) is now recycled,” state James Stroud City Manager.
Additional white dumpsters, which are used to recycle paper only will be located at businesses and remain locked to prevent being used for household refuge. The additional white dumpsters were obtained due to the fact all paper can now be recycled through these dumpsters. All paper meaning, magazines, white paper copier and printer paper, phone books, material from paper shredders, wrapping and packing materials, sale fliers and the majority of the junk mail received can now be recycled.
Dalhart also purchased an equal amount of red dumpsters which are used for cardboard recycling.Cardboard is the only material that can be placed in the red dumpsters and residents are asked to strictly adhere to the recycling program.
