ArchivesUnited Way expects to exceed 2012 goal
By TAMMI KATE LEDFORD United Way President Mark McKay is gearing up the board to raise money for local non-profit groups. “Our goal is $30,000 but we expect to exceed that this year,” stated McKay. Money donated to United Way is used locally to benefit Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, CASA and several other organizations in the community. “The money raised here, stays here,” added McKay. Previously the organization was a benevolent fund, but some larger corporations were unable to donate to a local benevolent fund. This was the reason Dalhart’s benevolent fund became associated with United Way.
