Wolves rally to defeat Bushland
By RODNEY WHITE
The first play of the game set the tone for the battle between two outstanding teams Friday night as the Golden Wolves scored in the fourth quarter to overcome a one point Falcon lead and send the Wolves to a 29-22 victory in a hard fought battle between two very good teams. Although the Wolves won, the game was not decided until the final play as Bushland got the ball back with 3:05 left in the game at the Bushland 37 yard line. The Dalhart defense was stellar in the second half holding Bushland scoreless after a 22 point first half. On the final drive Bushland fumbled the ball at the 50 yard line but then recovered their own fumble with 1:47 left in the game. Val Diaz had a sack at the 39 for a 12 yard loss. With 1:20 left Michael Hacker and Val Diaz switched roles with a big blitz by Val and there was only 1:20 left in the game. Bushland then completed a big pass for a first down at the 34 with 1:09 left. Jeremiah Detwiler and Cameron Vogel had a sack for a seven yard loss and Bushland used their last time out setting up a third and 15 with 34 seconds left in the game. Diaz then pressured the quarterback and forced an incomplete pass with 11 seconds left setting up a third and 10. On fourth and 10 Detwiler applied pressure with only four seconds left, and the pass fell short and time expired sealing the victory for the Wolves who remain perfect at 3-0 this year.
