Jefferson Street project underway

Jefferson Street has been the topic of several City Council meetings and the resurfacing project approved by the Dalhart City Council In June began on August 15, 2012. Barricades and signage has been put in place to control through traffic and to maintain safety for the work men. In addition to the obvious detour, an employee from G and G Paving personally visited each resident and business and provided a map of directions and access for the people affected by the road work.
The three quarter mile two lane road stripped, curbed and guttered street will receive a two course chip seal resurfacing. The project encumbers the portion of Jefferson between South First Street and Highway 54.  The road had to be closed to through traffic and limited access given to residents and businesses to complete the project. “Alternate routes have been established for everyone,” stated Kurtis Thomas, Paving Superintendent of G and G Operators, LTD. Thomas asks that everyone continue to use the established detour via the west alley. “The project is running smooth and the completion date is expected to be September 15, 2012,” stated Thomas.
