Council has first tax rate hearing

The Dalhart City Council conducted the first public hearing on the proposed tax rate, for the 2012-2013 fiscal year, at the council’s regular meeting on August 28. The proposed tax rate is the same as last year, 0.3333 per $100 of taxable value. No one spoke for or against the tax rate, and another public hearing was scheduled for 12:00 noon on August 31.
The council also conducted the third readings on Ordinance 2012-10 and Ordinance 2012-11, which grant franchises to Atmos Energy and West Texas Gas Company, respectively. The council voted to cast their ballot in the upcoming Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Board for the four incumbents.
