PBS coming to Dalhart

Posted by: tdt -

Producer Julie Dunfey with Florentine Films in Walpole, New Hampshire is planning a visit to Dalhart on Tuesday, June 23rd.  Her trip is scheduled to research the dust bowl and speak with survivors.  She will also visit the XIT Museum, the Dallam/Hartley County Library, The Dalhart Texan and other areas in the northwest panhandle that she anticipates will provide information useful to the project. The project for PBS (Public Broadcast Services) is entitled “The Dust Bowl,” a two-part, four-hour series.  PBS will also feature Ken Burns in a 30-second spot this summer asking people to submit their stories about the dust bowl to PBS.

Anyone having photographs, letters, diaries and personal stories about the dust bowl are encouraged to contact the XIT Museum for more information.  Museum Curator Nick Olson asks that anyone calling the Museum after hours please leave a message.  He also asks that people come by the Museum on Tuesday, June 23rd.   Contact the XIT Museum at 244.5390 or visit in person at 105 E. 5th Street.
