The ribbon is cut
The Grand Opening ribbon cutting for the new offices of Capital Farm Credit was held on Tuesday, June 2nd for the new offices located at 2921 West FM 281. A large crowd gathered to mark this special occasion despite the wind. Following the ribbon cutting there were tours of the new offices and hamburgers with all the fixings. The Red Coats of the Dalhart Area Chamber of Commerce kicked off the festivities and helped open the doors to Capital Farm Credit’s new office.
The building committee for First Ag Credit (Capital Farm Credit and First Ag Credit merged October 1, 2008) tried to build a new building every year. Randy Breitling, President of the old Federal Land Bank Association of Dalhart now serving as Vice President and HR Administrator for Capital Farm Credit, was very instrumental in the new building. The committee recognized the need for a bigger, more modern, updated building in the 90’s. Construction began the first of August, 2008 and move in day was February 20, 2009.
The building is decorated with photos of various Ag and Panhandle scenery provided by Annette Melius, Kristine Olsen, Donna Ferris, Sherry Awe, Danny Morrison, Jennifer Grady, Cheryl Callis, Terry White, Jena Harrison and Susan Clay.
First Ag Credit moved in the building located at 201 West 5th in the summer of 1980, and prior to that was located in the building currently used by Phil Like Inc. located at 116 West 5th.
Jim Wieck was recognized as serving as a director on the boards of Federal Land Bank Association of Dalhart, First Texas Federal Land Bank Association, First Ag Credit and Capital Farm Credit. This was Jim’s last official duty as director. One of the conditions of First Ag Credit and Capital Farm Credit merging was downsizing the boards. All of Jim’s years of service are deeply appreciated.
Kenton Kimball will remain on the Capital Farm Credit board. He has also served on the boards of Federal Land Bank Association of Dalhart and First Ag Credit. We are very fortunate to have representation from our area on our current board.
Christine Owens serves as Office Administrator with two years of service, and Linda Marshall serves as Loan Administrator with 24 years of service.
Zane Johnson officially began February 17th as Vice President/Branch Manager of the Dalhart Credit Office. He came to Dalhart with 13 years of commercial banking experience, as well as a life-long farming background. He grew up in Yoakum County where his dad and granddad had a farming operation in which he often helped out with. He attended Texas Tech University where he earned a bachelor’s of business administration degree in finance. He is married to Timmie. They have four grown children and three grandchildren with an additional one any day.
Dallam County 4-Hers helped serve the meal which was prepared by Danny Morrison and Eddie Marshall. Winners of the $100 gifts cards were Gabe Ferris and Donna Ferris; $50 gift cards Kay Hill and Chris Flores; and $25 gift card Phyllis Brooks.
The Dalhart Credit Office serves Dallam, Hartley, Sherman and Moore counties. Their loan products include farm and ranch real estate loans; operating, equipment & livestock loans, rural home loans and leases. Please stop by and visit with Zane, Linda or Christine.
