Youngsters from Dalhart Elementary School wowed the crowd on Friday afternoon, May 22nd. Twenty-five students braved the huge audience to demonstrate their talents. The crowd included the entire DES student body, teachers and proud family members.
The afternoon began with an adorable rendition of “The Three Little Pigs” performed by Erin Nutter, Lyndsey Dovel, Rhiannon Brewer as the little pigs, and Anayatzi as the big bad wolf. Emily Thelander and Kyllie Richardson sang “Love Story” followed by a piano rendition of “Bubble Gum” performed by Natalie Ham.
The “Cha-Cha Slide” was performed by the trio Autumn, Calie andEmerald. The crowd got a great reminder of how to pronounce the longest word in the dictionary when Breanna Fowler and Payton Galloway sang “Supercalifragilistic
expialidocious.” Payton Galloway crooned “Good Ride Cowboy.”
Two close friends, Konner White and Hanna Wilkerson, sang “True Friends” and after that Caleb Baumert played “Little Indian” on the piano. Kelly Clarkson would have been proud of Karley Ormon and Anzleigh Swecker’s version of “Because of You.” Zoe Morales read an original poem entitled “Cats” that was an exhibition of true talent.
According to John Solis, there’s “Something Under My Bed” which he played proficiently on the piano. Tatum Blanco sang, “I’m Not Perfect” perfectly and the two “Haileys,” Haylie Tiggs and Hailey Scott danced to the cupid shuffle. Another American Idol alum, Carrie Underwood, would have cheered for Amber Mendoza’s version of “Jesus Take the Wheel.”
The last pianist was Kelsi Wing who played “I Dropped My Dolly in the Dirt.” The finale was an excellent choice; a song, “Thankful for the USA” sang by Jacque Alvidrez, who was joined by the second grade members of the audience. Music teacher, Jeana Hamilton beamed with pride at how brave her students were in taking the stage, putting their nerves aside, and performing. She noted, “Just taking the stage is huge and they all did great.”
