Thinking about starting your own Business?
The Dalhart Chamber in partnership with Community Connect and the WT Small Business Development Center are excited to present an opportunity for you to learn more about starting your own business.
Give yourself the best possible chance of success by attending the Introduction to Business Ownership workshop, a free service, provided on June 10, 2009. You will learn about the best way to develop your business concept, determine a marketing strategy, organize your business operations and determine your legal structure. All this will keep you on the high road to success. Seats are limited, so call in advance to reserve your place. Registrants for the 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. workshops are welcome to bring a sack lunch or purchase lunch from the Senior Center.
Two sessions will be offered on June 10th. The first session will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Dalhart Senior Citizen Center. The second session will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Dalhart Chamber of Commerce Office.
The presenter for this program will be David Dickerson. David is Associate Director for the Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a department of the College of Business at West Texas A&M University. He has worked for the SBDC for over nine years providing the following services; free and confidential business consulting, preparing and presenting seminars and workshops, other business & marketing research, and specialized services.
Prior to working at the SBDC, David started and operated the “Stomping Grounds” for five years, a coffee shop in Canyon. He envisioned, researched and built the business from inception. He was responsible for all aspects of managing the business including finances and marketing.
David’s past experience includes being the Vocational School Director for a Mission in Brazil. There he was responsible for the work and training of teenagers, and seminary students. He also forecast and designed future business and training opportunities.
Prior to his time in Brazil, David was employed as a financial analyst at CitiFed Mortgage and Pacific First Bank in Seattle, Washington.
David also served on the Board of Directors for the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for four years. He has served as Treasurer for the last three years and was recently named the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year.
David and his wife, Lyn, live in Canyon. They have two daughters.
