The 2009 Dallam County 4-H Memorial Scholarship Recipients have been announced. Cindy McMurry presented $750 each to Jordan Meador and Julian Baca at the Dalhart High School Scholarship Awards program on May 12th. Rosabell Baca presented Garth McDonald a $750 Scholarship.
Mrs. Faye Plank established the Dallam County 4-H Scholarship Fund in 1987 in loving memory of her husband, Earl Plank, who was a 4-H leader for many years. Since that time numerous memorials, honorariums and contributions from individuals have been given to the Dallam County 4-H Memorial Scholarship Fund.
In 1997 Dallam County 4-H Ambassadors solicited donations from area businesses, individuals, 4-Hers and their families, which increased this fund. Annually the Dallam County 4-H Parent Leaders Association contributes to the scholarship fund.
The Amarillo Area Foundation, a public charitable foundation, professionally manages the Dallam County 4-H Memorial Scholarship Fund. Principal and all income from this fund is used to provide scholarships to the Dallam County 4-H graduating seniors, who plan to further their education in the field of their choice. All recipients must meet the eligibility requirements. The fund is a 501(c) (3) not for profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible. Donations are accepted any time through out the year. With the support of businesses and individuals this scholarship can continue to be a positive contributor to the youth of Dallam County and 4-H programs.
