Jasmine, the daughter of Rod and Linda Bohlender, has attended school in Dalhart from K-12. Her first six grades were spent at Dalhart Christian Academy and from 7th to 12th grade she attended Dalhart Public Schools. Both her brother and sister were Valedictorians of their senior classes, but that did not influence her choice. She said, “We were each encouraged to do our personal best.” While in school, Jasmine participated in National Honor Society, FCA, Spanish Club, UIL, Accounting Team, Student Council, HSTE and National Sciences Bowl. She was involved in the Big Brother Big Sister program, Lion’s Club, Good Samaritan, and Game Night with NHS. She is a member of the youth group at First Baptist Church where she helps lead youth worship on Wednesday night. Jasmine already traveled with a group to Mexico on a mission trip and this summer will travel to Papua New Guinea. She will be part of Interface, a program through New Tribes Mission. Her desire is to become a medical missionary and one day open a medical clinic in a remote area. Jasmine’s favorite teacher was Mrs. Farris. Her most memorable event was traveling with her English class to Paris and England this past summer. She enjoys cheerleading, playing the piano and singing. This fall she will enter Texas A&M and major in Biochemistry. Jasmine likes the quote from martyred missionary Jim Elliot, “He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”
